Description
In the BVI, Fort Burt is known as "The Businessperson's Hotel." Every deluxe room and suite is well maintained and equipped to meet the communications requirements of the modern traveling business executive. Rooms are equipped and furnished so the business executive can work comfortably and conveniently. Each room has a 2-line dataport telephone which lets you receive and make telephone calls while on the Internet, an unattended fax with its own direct fax line for convenience and confidentiality, a printer, and direct e-mail access. There's also a desk and a dataport desk lamp with easy-to-reach power and telephone connection ports in its base for convenient computer and e-mail hook-up.
In addition, all rooms have good and effective blackout curtains, well lighted and impeccably clean bathrooms and a refrigerator for beverages. Some of the larger accommodations have small kitchenettes. Two suites have their own private pool. All units have a magnificent view of Road Town Harbor.
Fort Burt is also home to the Fort Burt Steak & Lobster House Restaurant where some of the best food in the BVI is available, along with the most spectacular view of Road Town Harbor where the capital is located. The restaurant is a favorite of locals, expatriates and visitors alike, primarily because of its reputation for good food and service and its spectacular view of the harbor.
The Fort Burt Hotel is one of the most historic sites on Tortola, dating back to the Dutch Occupation during the 1700's when it was erected as the first fort to defend the island against pirates and invaders. It was named Fort Burt in 1776 after the Governor of the Leeward Islands, William Burt.
The hotel is located on the western side of Road Town, the principal city of Tortola and is within walking distance of the harbor and town attractions. It is easily accessible from both the airport and the inter-island ferry, which is located within walking distance. The hotel is located directly across the coastal road from the Royal BVI Yacht Club so if sailing is your pleasure, you can drop in there and rent one of their Ideal 18's for the afternoon. If you arrive by private yacht, there is a full service marina across the street from Fort Burt.
In addition, the hotel has a swimming pool that looks out over the harbor. There is a conference room available for business meetings that can comfortably seat 60 - 70 people. The hotel offers group discounts for conferences and meetings. One or two nightspots, featuring dancing and local music, are also within a short walking distance, as is a small grocery store.
The Fort Burt Hotel is a fun place to stay. It is a quiet and quaint Boutique Hotel that is moderately priced and yet offers amenities not readily available elsewhere in the British Virgin Islands. Its central location makes it ideal for seeing what Tortola has to offer while its "working rooms" are the best available for the business traveler.
