We planned a week-long stay at the St. Charles expecting a beautiful pool (we chose this hotel over others for that specific purpose).
On our way up to our room, we noticed the beautiful insect life which colonizes the hotel walls. I would advise not taking the elevator since one time during our stay, it froze up. The bugs also ventured into our bed a few times.
To keep this short and sweet, here is a list of things missing from our room:
1. Items missing from the kitchen included pot holders, dishtowels, table knives, can opener, broom, spatula, strainer, trash can (of adequate size.... too tiny), ice maker, salt and pepper, dish detergent (dishwasher was useless without it).
2. Items missing from the pool were water and chlorine. Things not missing from the pool were hermit crabs, various water beetles, and slime.
3. Things missing in general included a working safe (ours was broken), DVD remote and one TV remote control. Also, the towel rack in bathroom was ripped off the wall.
In addition, our curtains were off the track, and the sliding doors were dirty (obviously not cleaned for awhile). The room was cleaned once every two or three days, but not daily.
We will say the suite was very big, and the bed was comfortable.
If you visit North Caicos, be sure to get in touch with Jay from Bottle Creek. He will take you fishing, and he is very hospitable (in fact, more so than our hotel staff).
The bottom line is: this place has a lot of potential, but it is not ready yet. It should not be opened right now with the pool 2/3 full, and the hotel being short staffed. |

We had a terrible stay here. Visited: May 2008 |

The room was a little more than a little appalling. I will start at the entrance of the room, and work my way forward.
The door only had a push-in lock (like the one you find in a some bathrooms). There was no deadbolt, or even chain lock once you are inside the room. On the right was an old timey window that had three slits that opened and closed (not very well). Because of these antiquated windows, the room got fairly humid when it rained, and it didn’t stay too cool (this could also be the poor A/C unit).
One of our rooms had a broken A/C unit, but the front desk at Club Med Turks and Caicos stated it was not broken. On the window base was a blackish colored mold that was accented very well with the mold that was growing on the window treatments.
On the left was the commode that was in a little room by itself. There was no A/C, so you had to make it quick! It got hot, and because there was a widow that opened to the outside walkway, it was always nice to think that the people walking by are going to hear you as you go.
The next door on the left was the door to the sink and shower. The bathroom door didn’t close because it appeared that when they remolded it and added a little six-inch deep table, they forget to factor in the door actually closing.
Also, the shower kept changing from hot to cold the whole time. Setting it to cold, while not ideal, will at least keep at one temperature

This was the best meal we had while on the island. Give it a shot. Also, it's oceanfront, so you can enjoy the view as well! |

Hemmingway's had a beautiful setting, but the food was not good!
Plus, the host sat us right in front of the speakers that were playing live music. It was not easy to have a conversation. |

The Tuscany was amazing! Visited: May 2008 |

The Tuscany was beautiful! The three-bedroom, three-bath condos were located on the end of Grace Bay, and out of the way of the other large hotels. It felt like we had the whole end of the beach to ourselves.
The condos had comfy beds, luxury bathrooms, and a beautiful view of the ocean from the porch.
The pool was quiet and relaxing, with plenty of umbrellas and chairs. The beach also had very nice chairs and umbrellas for guests.
The staff was friendly, and the maid service was great! I had no complaints! |

This is a beautifull location and resort, located away from the crowds along Grace Bay. Though you will need to rent a car while you stay here, it is worth it. |

Rent a canoe, strap it on your car and spend the afternoon paddling around the islands of Chalk Sound. This is one of the most relaxing things we did on the island. |

This was my fourth (and final) time at Club Med Turks. It used to be a great place for fun, young, singles. I brought a friend with me - it was her first time - and was actually embarrassed about how much I had talked up how much fun we would have when we arrived.
The guests were much older - retirement and above - and overall most were couples. Afternoon pool volleyball with drinking was replaced by 70-year-old women moving your towel and book to another chair while you get up for five minutes.
While I have much respect for the elderly - this was not the Turks that kept me coming back for more. There were not that many singles in their 20s and 30s at all. Everything seemed slower and duller. |

We chose Harbour Club Villas from internet recommendations, and we were not disappointed.
We were looking for a place out of the busy area of Grace Bay with a separate bedroom and a well-equipped kitchen at a reasonable price. We certainly found it.
It was no surprise that we were very well taken care of by Barry and Marta. They lived up to their reputation in these reviews. Marta is such an inveterately helpful person, that even as we were leaving to go on to North Caicos, she told us how to find the special places there and gave us an extra styrofoam cooler to take our food in.
The villa was attractive, spacious and comfortable - and had everything we needed. When a friend came to join us for the last two nights of our stay, Marta rearranged all the furniture in the living area, so we could have the sofa sleeper open and off to one side and still have a good sitting arrangement on the other side. I never would have asked her to do that, but I was delighted that she did.
Making arrangements with Harbour Club was very easy. My emails were answered promptly, and they volunteered to make our car reservation with Scooter Bob.
We recommend the villas for anyone who is looking for home-like accommodations and helpful hosts.

Royal West is a delightful place to stay right on Grace Bay Beach. It is relatively new - opened in 2000. It's also attractive for couples or small families as there is enough private space and a great beach to roam.
The rooms are not over the top, but are not sub-par by any means. The restaurant is adequate for lunch and dinner, and is neither expensive or inexpensive. There are at least three great dinner spots within walking distance (Coco Bistro, Anacaona, and Coyaba) that vary in price. But the food quality is generally good on Turks.
This was our sixth stay at RWI, and it is always worth it. After this amount of time, we know how to approach cabbies, and are familiar with the restaurants.
Take advantage of the IGA - especially for spirits/wine and snacks. Pay attention to wine list pricing, so you don't feel abused. Also, enjoy the weather, beach and scenery. This is a great island and a great place.
We rate this location as three stars because it lacks first class linens and other in room accoutrements. But overall, it is a quiet secure location that is not overpriced and is on the beach. We have never been dissatisfied here, and always meet nice people from many places, it is highly recomended by us even at three stars. |

After five days in Provo, my girlfriend and I wanted to spend our final four days in Turks and Caicos by ourselves in total relaxation at a hotel in North Caicos. After some online research, we discovered the St. Charles, which was billed as a four-star resort on North Caicos.
Our nightmare started to unfold when I saw that the driveway to the St. Charles was an open construction pit with three pickup trucks, some strewn garbage and a temporary wooden fence separating it from the rest of the resort.
Upon walking into the resort, I discovered that the St. Charles was situated right next to the North Caicos Community Center. Consequently, there were around 25 noisy “non-guests” in various stages of drunkenness enjoying themselves in and around the resort’s pool area (including drinking at the bar).
I do not want to come across as some sort of elitist snob and while on vacation, I enjoy interacting with the locals. However, we were looking for tranquility and solitude in North Caicos, not a noisy party environment (The St. Charles website boasts of how the resort was designed with “exclusivity and serenity” in mind).
Additionally, it doesn’t seem to be fair to charge guests around $400/night (including taxes) to stay at the resort, when anyone can just come in and take over the pool. |

We have stayed in this villa before, and have booked again for this year. Away from the hub bub of Grace Bay, we found peace and tranquility here. We never saw a soul - apart from the maid.
The villa was spatious and bright, with beautiful views from the master suite (including the bathroom).
The downside? The holiday was just too short. |

This was my second time at White Sands, and I still love this place.
However, I was the only guest, so they closed the restaurant due to labor problems. As a result, I was really stuck for meals.
In addition, the pool was not operational.
I would go back provided these problems are fixed, though. |
