Q: My fiance (then wife) will be travelling to St. Martin on our honeymoon in May. We are staying for 5 nights at La Samanna. I have no issue with splurging on the high room rates there because I want to take her somewhere special, but I am concerned about the food. I've read numerous reviews about how insanely overpriced the food is. Any recommendations? Is food reasonably priced elsewhere on the island? Should I rent a vehicle for the week? Your help is appreciated. Answer

A: I would not get a vehicle for the week, but maybe for a day or two to explore the island. At a luxury resort you can expect higher prices. You will find a premium on all prices in the Caribbean. So, expect to pay more at the resort, but do not let it ruin your honeymoon. I would also suggest you plan some dinners out (taxi there) early in your trip so you you can decide if you prefer to eat at the resort or dine out. Have a great honeymoon.
