La Fleur des Pitons Villa, St. Lucia traveler review

Exceptional Views - Premier Accommodations Visited: December 2008
Posted by andercomm
This was a holiday gathering for us, two sons, their wives and our grandsons to be born in March and April. We enjoyed memories to be recounted for years to come.

The villa presents an awesome view of Petit Piton and the valley below spilling out to the Caribbean. Whether morning or midday sun, rainbows arching across the peak or colorful sunsets, the views are addictive, begging for many pictures in attempts to capture that which is best only when standing there. Perhaps the most picturesque and unique "signature" views in the Caribbean. Enjoy.

Villa accommodations are excellent, relaxing, open, private, and frame views at every turn. We had strong winds, heavy rain, peeper frogs, bats, birds, lizards, roosters, barking dogs, and a few insects. These were all accepted as a part of the experience. No complaints. Nothing that interrupted our enjoying a pleasant holiday with family.

Food: We cooked our own meals. Kitchen/living room great for family cooking/being together. Super J's in Vieux Fort had most all we needed and Eroline's in Souffriere had ample supplies. No seafood. We went out for some meals. Restaurants: Ladera, Hummingbird, Fond Doux, Mango Tree, Jalousie, and Anse Chastenet. Ladera was best. Hummingbird very good. The others mediocre. We have written separate reviews for each.

Sites: Botanical gardens, Hot Springs and Fond Doux Plantation are all worth a visit. Otherwise, drive and explore. Roads are good. Expect them to be hilly and winding. Only poor road we met was to Anse Chastenet. {"A bit of hell to get to paradise.")

Beaches: Jalousie is white sand and perfect. Anse Chastenet is black "sand" and serene. Bring chairs supplied by villa.

Our sons are avid SCUBA divers. Scuba St. Lucia is excellent dive shop.

The villa does not have working Internet but free WiFi from Jalousie can be reached from the villa porch.

Fabrice and Shaka were there when needed.

Best vacation ever! Be Happy!

Fond Doux Estate, St. Lucia traveler review

Magnificence! Visited: December 2008
Posted by alonzomcphee
I decided to spend my Christmas vacation here in Saint Lucia with my fiancee because I heard Saint Lucia is known for its miles of scenic roads and exquisite beauty and the climate is soothing and warm. We are orginally from Wisconsin where it is excessively cold around this time of the year. While surfing the net, we decided to spend some time at the Fond Doux Estate and this was the most enjoyable stay ever. Fond Doux is luxurious, natural, and the people are very hospitable. The ambiance was breathtaking to say the leas. We were treated with nobility. The staff were very friendly, and I can't forget the sumptuous, appetizing meals! Fond Doux is a true fairy tale!

Crystals, St. Lucia traveler review

A unique stay in St Lucia Visited: July 2008
Posted by execcoach
I have stayed at Crystals several times, over a period of four years, usually to break a business trip and get some relaxation.

The setting is wonderful, great views of the Pitons, Caribbean Sea and the rain forest. Monica and Martin, and their staff, make you feel incredibly welcome and ensure that you enjoy your stay. The villas are all different; decorated in a vibrant yet tasteful way and allow you to relax away from it all. However you can easily visit the island as Crystals is well placed mid-way between Castries in the North and Vieux Fort in the South.

You need a 4x4 to investigate the island properly. Again Monica and Martin are always on hand to advise you where to go and where to avoid to see the true St Lucia!

We spent 8 days with our family at Doves. It was most enjoyable. The apartment was very quiet and had everything we needed and more. The shops,Mall,Restaurants and the Beaches were all within 5 mins away. We will be returning in 2010.

Doves, St. Lucia traveler review

Best St. Lucian Vacation Ever Visited: December 2008
Posted by liztrev
Our family spent our 2008 Christmas/New Years vacation at Doves and it was the best ever. The location was ideal, very close to all amenities and tourist attractions in the north of the island. We did not have to venture away from Doves to enjoy firework displays from all the major resorts on the north western strip of the island.

Most of all the personal welcoming atmosphere created by the owners Earl and Pearl made this vacation the best ever.

Coal Pot, St. Lucia traveler review

This has been our favorite for 30 years.
Posted by mseelyatiac
We love lthe food and staff.

As villa owners, we know most of the restaurants (though, to be fair, not that many in the north end of the island which we try to avoid). We consider the Coal Pot as good as Dasheene--our other favorite, which is part of Ladera - and very close to the dining room at Tikaye. Further, you get to see Michelle's wonderful ceramics.

We felt trapped here. Visited: December 2008

We loved the views, but felt trapped due to the bad and very long road to the villa. You really can't walk safely downhill to the beach.

This place is very special! They offer seating right on the water at Marigot Bay. It's expensive, but worth it. The food is fantastic. The chef is very, very good!

Heaven, St. Lucia traveler review

This was the perfect honeymoon place for us! Visited: November 2008
Posted by mimimes
We could hardly believe how perfect Heaven was for us! We wanted total privacy, and that is what we got. In addition, we had the most amazing view of Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay.

The villa had a 360 degree view, about 280 degrees was over the ocean and bays - and the rest lush mountains.

We chose to cook our own meals, and limited the housekeeper and gardener to two days a week for two hours a day. The weather was tropical with rain showers coming and going. The temperature was perfect, I never wore a sweater.

The villa is truly "one of a kind". We felt so blessed to have found it! It is a bit older, but by no means tired. It is also airy and open to the outside. The pictures are accurate.

Having our own good sized pool overlooking the ocean was a definite plus. Yes, we would return if given the chance someday.

La Petite Fleur Des Pitons - Cottage, St. Lucia traveler review

This is the most perfect place on earth. Visited: November 2008
Posted by autumnw
My husband and I just returned from a week at this wonderful cottage on St. Lucia. It far exceeded my expectations of what a great vacation lodging should possess.

We typically do not like to stay at large hotels, so we try to find more private and quiet accommodations and La Petite Fleur des Pitons was the perfect fit for our needs.

Fabrice welcomed us warmly, and showed us where everything was, and then just said to call him or knock on his door should we need to know anything about the cottage or the island.

We like to cook a bit for ourselves, and the kitchen was well stocked and well equipped with just about everything one would need to make a few simple meals. It was also nice to be able to bring back restaurant food (the portions were huge!) and reheat them.

Sitting out on the deck at night and listening to the frogs and crickets and watching the fireflies was so magical and cool, and of course the view was out of this world!

I enjoyed the island so much as well. There were many warm and truly helpful people, and I enjoyed its many natural wonders.

Stonefield Estate, St. Lucia traveler review

Stonefield Estate is amazing. Visited: August 2007

We were a little apprehensive at first, and were thinking about staying at Anse Chastenet. But once we arrived, we were in awe of the scenery and our fabulous villa.

We stayed in the Jasmine, and had our own plunge pool with views of the Petit Piton and the ocean. The sunsets were phenomenal! The Mango Tree served delicious breakfasts every morning, and the staff was great. They don't get in too big of a hurry, so you're forced to enjoy your surroundings.

My husband and I also felt very safe traveling around the island (by taxi). We chartered a boat for the day, and traveled up the western coast of the island, stopping at Marigot Bay, the Hummingbird for lunch, and Soufriere.

We had a fabulous honeymoon!

The BodyHoliday at LeSPORT, St. Lucia traveler review

It is always a treat for the body and soul! Visited: October 2008
Posted by tropic_girl
This was my fifth trip to Le Sport, and my husband and I both love it! The staff is great, and the rooms are comfy. However, you do have to get used to the fact there are no TVs. But you won't miss them much, as there's so much to do outside.

My husband never liked going to spas until he went to Le sport. The staff at Oasis take such great care and effort to make sure you're totally pampered! The inclusive treatments are really great, but it's nice to get all the Ayurvedic spa treatments, and stuff like reflexology, Thai massage, etc.

The variety of food here is great - one can never get bored. Tao is a superb restaurant. Make it a priority to get a reservation there. Le Sport is now our favorite hotel in the Caribbean! A++

Tamarind House, St. Lucia traveler review

Don't worry! Visited: February 2008
Posted by hughjones
This house is one of the most beautiful in St. Lucia. Situated on a landscaped hillside between Soufriere and Anse Chastanet, there is total privacy with a 180-degree ocean view and a stunning (probably the best you'll get) view of the Pitons stage left.

The owner lives adjacent, is on hand, and totally friendly. The staff is all long service 'family' people who will take every care to make sure you have what you need and feed you properly local sourced food (think fish!) prepared in great style.

This is a perfect spot for an extended generation family holiday. The beach at Anse Chastanet is ten minutes downhill, and 15 up. It is beautiful. The hotel at the beach costs serious money in comparison with Tamarind House, so no contest - go private! And don't worry, it really is very good.

Almond Morgan Bay, St. Lucia traveler review

I was disappointed. Visited: October 2008
Posted by blackun89an
Guests were feeding cats and dogs at the restaurant tables. I saw a cat using the Palms Restaurant as a toilet while we were eating. I also saw a couple of rats near the kitchens on one occassion.

It was not romantic at all in my opinion. It was overrun with kids now that the suites are now completed. Maintenance needs looked at, too. There was not enough staff, and there were long waits in the restaurant for service.

It got old getting up at 7 am to get a parasol for my daughter and me as I had to join the ranks of families doing the same.

I would not go back. We transferred from Smugglers Cove due to flooding and hurricane damage. We were not told until two days into the holiday! I had to repack and transfer to Morgans Bay.

In addition, the Sunset Lounge in the evening was like something I have seen in a holiday camp. It was very unpleasant for a Caribbean holiday resort.

Mago Estate Hotel, St. Lucia traveler review

Mago Estate is an amazing place in the sun. Visited: September 2008
Posted by rose_bud
What an amazing place to stay! I nearly missed it after reading the awful review given by one guest.

The place is above the town of Soufriere (which is in itself held back in time). The town is so quaint with old style colonial French architecture. I decided to stay there as I found that all of the natural places to visit were in the South.

The room was amazing. We stayed in Zum Zum in the newly built Carib suites. What an amazing place. The wood of the building was imported from Bali, with so much beautiful architectural detail. There was a pool and deck below the room, and open air to the sea and piton view.

There was some noise in the mornings and on some weekends, but as we were told 'we are part of the town of Soufriere, so when Soufriere has Jazz we have Jazz, this includes Carnival..) . We were given ear plugs in case the sound of nature got too much for us, but it never did.

We had such an amazing stay. We have taken breaks all around the island, but this really was a great surprise considering the disproportionately negative reviews we saw when booking.

In addition, the staff was excellent and ready to serve our every need. Thanks Mago for a great stay.

It you have booked this hotel - please cancel.

This place is not what they say it is. It is infested with rats, and they provide bad service, and poor management.

We could not find a manager when we wanted to speak to one. We checked out early and refused to stay at this hotel. We were offered a bottle of wine, but that would not do any good for the bad service.
