My husband and I just returned from a week at this wonderful cottage on St. Lucia and I must say, it far exceeded my expectations of what a great vacation lodging should possess. We typically do not like to stay at large hotels, so we try to find more private and quiet accomodations and La Petite Fleur des Pitons was the perfect fit for our needs.
Fabrice welcomed us warmly and showed us where everything was, and then just said to call him or knock on his door should we need to know anything about the cottage or the island.
We like to cook a bit for ourselves and the kitchen was well stocked and well equipped with just about everything one would need to make a few simple meals. It was also nice to be able to bring back restaurant food (the portions were huge!) and reheat them.
Sitting out on the deck at night and listening to the frogs and crickets and watching the fireflies was so magical and cool, and of course the view is out of this world!
I enjoyed the island itself so much as well, with its warm and truly helpful people and its many natural wonders.

We were a little apprehensive at first, and were thinking about staying at Anse Chastenet. But once we arrived, we were in awe of the scenery and our fabulous villa.
We stayed in the Jasmine, and had our own plunge pool with views of the Petit Piton and the ocean. The sunsets were phenomenal! The Mango Tree served delicious breakfasts every morning, and the staff was great. They don't get in too big of a hurry, so you're forced to enjoy your surroundings.
My husband and I also felt very safe traveling around the island (by taxi). We chartered a boat for the day, and traveled up the western coast of the island, stopping at Marigot Bay, the Hummingbird for lunch, and Soufriere.
We had a fabulous honeymoon!

This was my fifth trip to Le Sport, and my husband and I both love it! The staff is great, and the rooms are comfy. However, you do have to get used to the fact there are no TVs. But you won't miss them much, as there's so much to do outside.
My husband never liked going to spas until he went to Le sport. The staff at Oasis take such great care and effort to make sure you're totally pampered! The inclusive treatments are really great, but it's nice to get all the Ayurvedic spa treatments, and stuff like reflexology, Thai massage, etc.
The variety of food here is great - one can never get bored. Tao is a superb restaurant. Make it a priority to get a reservation there. Le Sport is now our favorite hotel in the Caribbean! A++

This house is one of the most beautiful in St. Lucia. Situated on a landscaped hillside between Soufriere and Anse Chastanet, there is total privacy with a 180-degree ocean view and a stunning (probably the best you'll get) view of the Pitons stage left.
The owner lives adjacent, is on hand, and totally friendly. The staff is all long service 'family' people who will take every care to make sure you have what you need and feed you properly local sourced food (think fish!) prepared in great style.
This is a perfect spot for an extended generation family holiday. The beach at Anse Chastanet is ten minutes downhill, and 15 up. It is beautiful. The hotel at the beach costs serious money in comparison with Tamarind House, so no contest - go private! And don't worry, it really is very good.

Guests were feeding cats and dogs at the restaurant tables. I saw a cat using the Palms Restaurant as a toilet while we were eating. I also saw a couple of rats near the kitchens on one occassion.
It was not romantic at all in my opinion. It was overrun with kids now that the suites are now completed. Maintenance needs looked at, too. There was not enough staff, and there were long waits in the restaurant for service.
It got old getting up at 7 am to get a parasol for my daughter and me as I had to join the ranks of families doing the same.
I would not go back. We transferred from Smugglers Cove due to flooding and hurricane damage. We were not told until two days into the holiday! I had to repack and transfer to Morgans Bay.
In addition, the Sunset Lounge in the evening was like something I have seen in a holiday camp. It was very unpleasant for a Caribbean holiday resort.

I am on the island for a three-month project. This restaurant is wonderful. It is absolutely delicious island food. It is very quaint, and close to my work.
This will be my lunch spot for the next three months!

Mago Estate is an amazing place in the sun.Visited: September 2008

What an amazing place to stay! I nearly missed it after reading the awful review given by one guest.
The place is above the town of Soufriere (which is in itself held back in time). The town is so quaint with old style colonial French architecture. I decided to stay there as I found that all of the natural places to visit were in the South.
The room was amazing. We stayed in Zum Zum in the newly built Carib suites. What an amazing place. The wood of the building was imported from Bali, with so much beautiful architectural detail. There was a pool and deck below the room, and open air to the sea and piton view.
There was some noise in the mornings and on some weekends, but as we were told 'we are part of the town of Soufriere, so when Soufriere has Jazz we have Jazz, this includes Carnival..) . We were given ear plugs in case the sound of nature got too much for us, but it never did.
We had such an amazing stay. We have taken breaks all around the island, but this really was a great surprise considering the disproportionately negative reviews we saw when booking.
In addition, the staff was excellent and ready to serve our every need. Thanks Mago for a great stay.

This place is not what they say it is. It is infested with rats, and they provide bad service, and poor management.
We could not find a manager when we wanted to speak to one. We checked out early and refused to stay at this hotel. We were offered a bottle of wine, but that would not do any good for the bad service.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. Everything was just amazing.
We enjoyed the food in the restaurant. It was reservations-only, and not open to the public. We appreciated the friendly staff. Thank you, Arlette and Rass, for looking after us so well!
This accommodation was one of a kind. We had the Sugar Cane with our own private 20-ft pool.
We will be back - we loved it!

It's art nouveau food, so eat a sandwich before you leave home! It's right on the water's edge, so the location is great. The food was good, but the price was a bit much.

The market is like something in the seventies - quaint. However, you can find everything here - from seasonings to fresh meats and vegetables. Also, you can bargain prices.
Go there for the experience. However, it may not appeal much to the sophisticated individual.

We are presently at the Gateway Villas and finding it ideal. It is a great value for the money - with free Internet service! Also, it's about 5 - 8 minutes drive away from Rodney Bay, so you are not far from restaurants and shops.
I heard that Gateway Villas provides a few luxurious villas with views, pool, etc. They are apart from the hotel style complex (which we are in), and we are going to see a few tomorrow. We can't wait.
Everything you need is in the room - which is quite large. The staff is helpful, too.

We (five couples from 45 to 64 in age) stayed at Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain resort for ten days. I must preface my comments. None of us had been to St. Lucia before.
The Anse Chastanet Resort had very good staff, they were always asking if there was anything they could do for us. This occurred from the manager to the ground keeper. Everyone wanted us to have a great time. It seemed to come naturally, and not a superficial concern.
The food at the three restaurants, from the Gross Piton Hamburger (U.S. inspected beef) at the Beach Grill, to the fresh tuna sushi at the Tree House, was very good, well presented, and included a variety of styles and spices.
Breakfast was buffet style (from 7 until 10). However, there was a chef who made omelets, eggs and crepes. Also, they had a juice bar where fresh fruit drinks were made.
Lunch was usually taken at the Beach Grill. You could be served at the restaurant, bar or on the beach. If we wanted anything when you were on the beach, we just waved the flag and stuck it in the ground. Within minutes, a beach boy would appear to take care of your needs.
The lunch menu went from appetizers to a full four-course dinner a la cart.
Dinner was offered at all three restaurants at night, and dress was smart casual. Women were usually dressed a notch above the men. As stated, the food was very good, service was at the right pace to allow for table conversation. They also had nice wine.
Five couples, ten days and 300 meals - and nothing to really complain about.

The cottage is a very nice place to stay if you love great views - because that is what you will get. The Petite Peton is right in front of you as you look out over a tropical rain forest stretching out to the ocean.
I recommend that you do not go during the summer months, since in St. Lucia it is the rainy season. It rained every single day. The last two days it rained non-stop.
The plunge pool is so cold that you cannot take a plunge - unless you are a polar bear. It is not heated (which they do not tell you this in the ad). There is very little area to lay out, also. The pool is in need of repair (not very appealing). Also, the pool light did not work. I would recommend only staying in the cottage if you are renting the bigger villa with it. The outdoor shower is excellent.
Also, note that even though they say a washing machine and dryer are available - you can only pay the people to work there to do it for you. They do charge a reasonable rate of $25 per load.
Do not forget to bring a transformer with you - since the electric is not on the same voltage that US is (and it will burn out anything you bring with you). I think they should provide that for you, but they do not.
The caretakers were very nice to us, and they were truly helpful. I would recommend using a guide to take you around the island, that way if you do not like being begged on all the time, your guide will take care of you.
We found the island food to be excellent and reasonable for the time of year.

Saline Reef was beautiful! The views were gorgeous, the staff was professional, and Angel's cooking was very satisfying. The house was clean and very spacious. They needed drawers in the upstairs bedroom, though.
There was a beautiful beach within walking distance, and tennis and golf were right down the road.
We would definitely make this our return destination if heading back to St. Lucia in the future.

Zephyr Hill offers large villas with a large pool and good views.Visited: July 2008

I had a large villa, There were two doubles upstairs, two twins completely separated by the pool, and all with en-suite. There were only four of us, so we only took the doubles.
There was plenty of sitting area in the shade and in the sun - both by the pool and on the verandah. There was also a covered area to the west of the house. We had no problems tripping over people in this villa!
There was a good selection of books (local tourist and nature guides - fishes, trees, etc - plus fiction and cooking amongst others).
All the windows and doors had an almost equal area of (netted) slats alongside, so the ever-present wind kept the inside cool, and the outside bugs out - even when the doors were shut.
They had a very large pool. It was six feet, six inches at the deep end, so it was okay for diving if you are careful.
Zephyr also afforded great views - south over Cap Golf Course to Rodney on the west coast and Cap-en-Bas to the east. The approach road rutted, but it was still only ten minutes from the Rodney Bay shops, eateries, etc.
The bad points - there was a lot of villa building in the Cap Estate, so there was some noise during the day. It was not too troublesome, though, as it was far enough away. It was also sporadic, but was present. In addition, the local guard dogs in other villas were vocal. I think these would be the same anywhere, though.
I would return.
