I went to PR with my friend and stayed in this amazing gem. We wanted to stay in different areas (Isla Verde, Old San Juan, etc.) so we planned to stay at Oceana only one night. We got an amazing deal, 89$ for a room that overlooked the waterfall in the back. We ended up going to different places but always came back to Oceana as the price, quality of the service & rooms were the best. We had great breakfast, amazing coffee and all smiles from all the staff. I would walk to the beach in less then a minute, if you don't mind walking next to graffiti walls (but come on its not scary) or 5 min, if you rather go around. Was amazing. would stay there again in a heart beat.

I went to El Conquistador last spring break, and it was fabulous!
The rooms were great, and the service was wonderful. There were so many restaurants to choose from, and they were all excellent! The beach was nice and private. It was for guests only!
The spa was also very, very nice. You'll never get bored because there are so many things to do.
If you are going to Puerto Rico, come here. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

We stayed in the mountains for about a week, and wanted to go away. We spent the day in the rainforest, and took the ferry over to Culebra. With no accommodations, residents suggested Mamacitas.
We walked over, and one room was available (which was on the third floor). The room was clean, with no bugs, and we were happy to have AC. When we woke up the next morning, we saw the most beautiful view. Afterward, we headed to Flamenco Beach.
The only problem was that there was low water pressure.

Staying at the Luquillo Inn was like staying with family you like.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The location of the Inn was very central to the Northeast Puerto Rico activities – San Juan, Fajardo, El Yunque and the beach! The inn is clean and well maintained. They really care about their property, and it shows.
Little amenities like beach towels, snorkeling equipment, and bottled water were available at the front office. Breakfast was freshly made when you arrived in the morning - and fruit, bagels, and pastries were set out to start you off.
Luquillo is a small town that looks a little depressed. However, we felt very safe walking around, and we found some great places to eat, and lovely beaches to lounge on.
The beach directly in front of the inn was not a good swimming beach. However, a three-block walk up the beach led us to a lovely calm watered beach that was perfect for swimming and play.
The view from the room was just as shown on the web site. It was divine and tranquil.
We also did the Bio bay kayak tour that was suggested on the Inn’s web site, and had a great experience with a safe, knowledgeable tour company. We did, however, need to find our own way to the harbor area for take off. That was a little bit of a challenge, and did not save us that much off the price of the tour.
I’d definitely stay at Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn again.

I took my family here in May 2008, and we stayed for a week. It was at the end of a long peninsula and in the Rio Grand.
If you are into golf, I would recommend it. The peninsula was a golf course all the way to the end. They had the PR Open there this year, and it was very crowded!
The resort itself was nice, but the beach was not. Repeat - was not! There wasn't anybody on the beach, everyone was around the pool. They boast that the pool is the largest on the island. I wouldn't know for sure, but the pool was nice.
They need to turn this resort into a beach resort! The beach needs lots of money spent on it - and lots of work.
The restaurants were fine inside the resort, but there wasn't much outside in the Rio Grande area. You are kind of out on your own at this resort. You probably will end up renting a car and driving to Old San Juan.
We might go back, but not for ten years or so. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice place, but there were drawbacks (including thefts of personal property - ex. laptops). If you go, make sure your room is not on the ground floor - as there are too many workers walking around and these rooms are easy to get into.

El Conquistador is stunning! Yes, it's huge, and it takes time to get from your room to anywhere else. We found those walks, surrounded by the "singing" of the Coqui frogs, to be relaxing and enchanting. The gardens were lush and exotic; beautiful flowers and tropical plants (trees, ferns, bromiliads) were everywhere.
We ate at the Stingray (delicious seafood, elegantly presented, excellent service) and the Striphouse (one of the best steaks I've ever enjoyed).
We went horseback riding on Palomino Island, and would love to repeat the experience.
The staff was exceptionally responsive and friendly, too. We loved it, and hope to return!

Chi Chi Rodriguez, his wife Iwalani, and staff make you feel like family. I found El Legado cruising the net a few years back, and have stayed several times.
They provide very nice accommodations - clean and spacious. A bonus - great fishing nearby - just ten minutes away in Pozuelo. There were also some great restaurants there - fresh caught seafood being the specialty. El Arcoiris is my favorite, but it's a close call.

I stayed in San Juan Beach Hotel for a weekend in September 2008.
The hotel was very modest. The room was furnished with very old furniture, and the curtains had holes. But considering the star rating, I wouldn’t expect anything more. That is not the point.
The point is that the hotel service was absolutely horrible. From day one, my friend and I had nothing but problems. The entrance to the beach was locked. It took them one full day (and that was after our repeated requests) to open the door.
The highlight of the stay was the professional camera disappearing from my room without a trace. We left for a couple of hours, and upon our return, the camera was gone - so was the old mp3 player that was inside my backpack – so whoever stole it went through my stuff!
Well, even if these items were not stolen by the hotel staff, they were definitely stolen by someone who had access to the room key since the door lock wasn’t broken.
We reported the incident to the hotel personnel immediately, and that was when the nightmare started. First, I was told that the hotel had nothing to do with it, and that upon check-in we signed a paper according to which the hotel was not responsible for valuables stored in the room.
But even so, some concern would be nice. Instead, the person we were dealing with was extremely rude and insulting.

Since the moment you arrive at the hotel, you feel like you are home with all the greetings and smiles.
The restaurant, Tangerine, was in the lobby floor with excellent food and quality service. The elevators with waterfalls caught my impression. This was really cool! Also, the wet bar was at the roof top with a spectacular view of Isla Verde and the ocean.
On the weekends, they had DJs playing upstairs. It was great! We had a problem with our AC, but it was fixed right away. In addition, the general manager, David, apologized to us and offered free drinks for this inconvenience. He was great! All of the staff were great.
I truly recommend this hotel to everyone!

I love this place. I used to live in Luquillo, and thought about renting out a house on the beach. However, that was before I found out this place just opened. Stay here! You won't be disappointed if you're looking for a place off the beaten path with the feel of a five-star B&B.
The staff is five star. The complimentary breakfasts are delicious, and the Kioskos are only a 15 minute walk if you want to experience the ultimate in culinary variety. (I recommend #2 - La Parilla).
Luquillo appears to be undergoing a renaissance period at the moment. While it used to be a bit run-down, this B&B and a few other new establishments really lend some good credo to the place.
They give you beach chairs and towels to lounge out at La Pared, and there's an outdoor shower for rinsing off at the end of the day.
I saw 100 baby leatherback trails going from a tiny hole in the sand into the water in the morning during my run on the beach. I think I missed the exodus by about 15 minutes. You won't get that in San Juan.
For anybody unfamiliar with Luquillo, I'd recommend researching it a bit, or asking folks what their impression is of this Puerto Rican town. I love it for what it is, and hope people can accept that it's the best of both worlds.

The Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn is in as many words, unbeatable for the price.
We had a spectacular third story, balcony beach-view room with all expected amenities. It was very quiet and peaceful, with an amiable surf-instructor to be found on the beach almost every day!
It is a must see!

I stayed here with my husband, whom was on business. While he worked, I enjoyed myself at the breathtaking rooftop lounge area in a very comfortable bed, sipping a margarita.
The pool was also on the rooftop, and had an infinity feel to it, as it was surrounded by glass.
At night, I would go to have a fabulous dinner at the restaurant. We also tried the Sushi bar, which was fresh and delightful.
The beach in front was subtle and very inviting. The rooms were breezy, and had a designer touch.
I greatly recommend the hotel. I can't wait to be back.

I love this hotel so much. It's located in front of the beach with free beach towels, chairs and umbrellas. There is a beach waitress who serves you something to drink or eat. Kevin, the beach guy, is awesome, too. In fact, everything is great -especially the roof top bar with that spectacular view!
I will really recommend for everybody to stay at this spectacular hotel - and the people are so friendly!

A San Juan travel review
Wyndham Hotel in Isla Verde is impressive.
Posted by ramver
The Wyndham El San Juan Hotel and Casino in Isla Verde is one of the most popular hotels in Puerto Rico. Once you arrive, you get full accommodation, and access to all the amenities for corporate and guess hospitality.
The rooms have full accommodation and facilities as any five-star hotel - including recreation (like casino, a cigar room, a night time pool, Jacuzzi and more). You also have access to the beach.
Also, the Wyndham Hotel has one the best night life in the city.

The Water and Beach Club was a wonderful hotel with lovely people! From the moment we arrived, the bellmen greeted us at the door with a big smile, and the front desk staff was amazing with their wonderful service.
The room was awesome! It was a little small for the accommodations, but we were not there all the time. The TV didn't work well due to weather conditions, but it was fixed inmediately.
Our check out day was really sad. We didn't wanted to go. We made so many friends at this hotel!
You will love the service here, and the way they treat you. It's like home. Thank you Water and Beach Club for making my experience memorable. We will come back with our kids!
