Villa Montana Beach Resort, Isabela traveler review

Paradise Found Visited: July 2008
Posted by lauderdale66
My husband and I just returned from Villa Montana Beach Resort and had a lovely time. We had the chance to attend a destination wedding as my cousin was getting married at the resort. It was a hassle free direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale into the Aguadilla airport. My cousin had arranged through the resort to have all of her guests picked up in a town car, this saved us from renting a car but it was available if we needed it. It was a short drive, only fifteen minutes or so down rural roads and as we turned the corner there was this beautiful Caribbean paradise. I can see why she chose it.

Our Villa had breathtaking views of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea, and from our private verandah we enjoyed amazing sunsets that we still talk about. The Wedding was beautiful overlooking the ocean at dusk.– it made me wish that I had found this place 15 years ago when my husband and I were married.

The staff made us feel welcomed and they always had a hello and a warm smile as you passed them around the grounds. We were there for 4 days and there was so much to do we had a hard time deciding how to spend our free time. My husband and I went horseback riding along the secluded beach and also took a great mountain bike ride into lush green forests. The setting of the Villa Montana Beach Resort allowed us to rekindle our romance and get back in touch with the great outdoors. We have great memories of our trip and hope to come back again one day.

The Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn was in a nice proximity to the Fajardo ferry.

It was clean, well-priced, friendly, and right on beach. It is highly recommended.

Oceana Hostal Playero, San Juan traveler review

Just OK Visited: August 2008
Posted by ashleyf,
The hotel was just ok. Definately ok for the price.
But... 1st- upon check in we were given a small room with 2 dbl beds, a sink, and mini frig, when I reserved a suite with full kitchen, dining area, separate living area, and separate bedroom with king bed. My husband went to the front desk and they were happy to change it.
2nd- the light fixture in the living area was large and room for 6 bulbs, but only 2 were working, by day 6 of our stay 1 was working. We told the frt desk, not replced, and 1 bulb out in dining rm fixture.
3rd- my son had thrown up on one of the towels, I left it in the bathroom for the maid to change, she didn't. She just fold it up and put it back on the shower floor to use as a mat. Maybe she didn't notice, but that means they re-use dirty towels.
Other than that I would stay here again for the price, just make sure you are looking at what your are promised and details of cleanliness.

Ocean Villas II - Rio Mar Beach Resort, Northeast Coast traveler review

Great Potential But Need Some TLC Visited: August 2008
Posted by bgm1213
Just spent 9 nights in a 2-bedroom Ocean Villa. The villas have potential to be a fantastic resort, but they need some TLC. Upon arrival, there was not a person to be found! We had to find the key in a desk drawer and search for our room until a maintenance employee came and helped us. The unit was very spacious but we found the kitchen to need some better cleaning. The external cabinets were "sticky" and some of the cookware was found dirty in the cabinets. Also, the rugs in the bedrooms and living area were quite stained. When we inquired at the "concierge" we were told this was one of the best units there! The concierge was almost never there and, when we was, she was of almost no help! We used the concierge service at the Ro Mar for any help with activities/restaurants. They were very helpful and friendly. The pools/hot tub were beautiful, but the hot tub was broken for a few days and the "infinity" feature of the pool was also broken. The beach was beautiful with soft, brown sand, nice waves, very clean. The hotel next door was lovely and it was nice to be able to use their facilities. Overall, a very nice place, but needs some TLC.

Hotel Melia, Ponce traveler review

If you are into cleanliness, don't stay here. Visited: August 2008
Posted by seattle
The room and bath were dirty. There were such strong dog urine and feces odors that I had to leave the balcony door open the entire time we were here so as to prevent getting a migraine.

The bed was uncomfortable, and the sheets did not cover the bare mattress. Also, the furniture was old and worn. I'm fairly sure the walls had not been painted in 50 years (nor cleaned in as many).

My fiance, who loves to "get into the culture" loved it; I could hardly wait to leave.

Courtyard by Marriott San Juan Isla Verde, San Juan traveler review

The best hotel in Isla Verde Visited: July 2008
Posted by jandaroe
I went to the Courtyard Marriott July 2008. It was the best hotel I have been to in a long time. The staff is great especially the manager Mr. Arroyo, he is very accomadating and tends to your needs.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were very nice and helpful from the doormen to the managers and the restaurants are great, If you stay here you must eat at Salsa Restaurant, the buffet will be the best Puerto Rican Cuisine you can ever eat.
The beach is great and so are the pools even though they should get cleaned every other day.
This is a great hotel for business people, families and couples.
One more thing thats great in this hotel is that there is nightly live entertainment that everyone enjoys, and if like casinos this is your place to stay.

Our stay at Sunrise Inn was incredible.

The staff went over and beyond the call of duty to make our time here such a pleasure. We ended up staying here two more nights than we had planned.

Our daughter was sick while we were here, and the staff helped us locate a physician and all that we needed to help her recovery.

You will not find a better place to stay in Puerto Rico.

The villa was absolutely beautiful. The actual villas were much more beautiful than the pictures showed. They were very spacious, secure, and quiet. The resort was a little community in itself.

The El Yunque rainforest was about ten minutes from the resort - and a must see.

We were very pleased with our stay.

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn, Northeast Coast traveler review

This is the best resort in Puerto Rico. Visited: August 2008

We had a wonderful time at the resort.

The staff was excellent. Damon is definitely an asset to the resort. On our last day, we went to San Juan and lost our keys to the rental car. The only people we knew in Puerto Rico were the staff at Luquillo. We called the office, and Damon helped us locate the car rental company. He went above and beyond to keep us happy while at the resort. And, after after checking out, he helped us when we were stranded at the beach.

I would recommend Luquillo Sunrise to anyone and everyone. We will definitely be returning next year. Thanks for everything - you guys are the best!

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn, Northeast Coast traveler review

I love this inn so much I will be staying in it again. Visited: July 2008

This is a great spot not too far from the capital of San Juan. It is also next to Route 3, which gives you access to a lot of other places on the island.

El Yunque was wonderful, and I had a great time.

The staff was great. For the poster who didn't want to carry their own stuff, then don't go on vacation. It's no one's job to carry your stuff.

The parking was a little of a hassle, but its very safe for your vehicle. The satellite needs more channels because there was not much to watch at night when relaxing in the lovely rooms (with great views of the beach).

The breakfast was good, and you don't have to eat here if you are diabetic. The local food was great, but I would not go to kiosk #2 because it was ridiculously overpriced.

The staff was great, but the guests were horrible. People didn't even say "good morning". I mean, you don't have to make friends, but the guest should all at least say hi to the other guests - no class!

I will be back in December or January. I'm building three houses here, and I love this Inn so much I will be staying in it again!

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn, Northeast Coast traveler review

Luquillo has breathtaking views! Visited: July 2008

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn is a quaint little bed and breakfast located in the small town of Luquillo.

Luquillo itself is in the early stages of development, and its greatest assets are the beaches out front. Where the hotel is located, there are new businesses developing - including a wonderful restaurant called Guavas! The people of Luquillo are very friendly and helpful, too.

The hotel itself is a new hotel with clean rooms and wonderful staff. Management and employees work together wonderfully. Captain Sherry and Demian work together managing the place, and it is very obvious they take much pride in their jobs.

I would recommend this hotel anyone!

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn, Northeast Coast traveler review

It was nice - but not for everyone. Visited: July 2008
Posted by prtraveler
I really liked our stay at this Inn, but it isn't for everyone.

I wouldn't recommend it to people with diabetes who need to eat low carb. All the breakfasts, although pretty, were carb rich - mainly pancakes, French toast, waffles, etc. There was also fruit, but that is also a no-no for diabetics.

Another thing that bothered me was the lack of help taking luggage upstairs. I am a very small woman, and it was difficult to get my luggage up the stairs by myself. When I asked for help at the office, they said there was no one else there to help.

Also, this is a small Inn, and the parking situation is difficult. Sometimes we had to leave our keys at the office at night because we were one of the last ones in and had to park in front of the other cars. At least they were nice enough to move the cars around. Although, I didn't find this out until the last night and had to worry someone would need to go out before us the rest of the days.

La Paloma Guest House, Fajardo & Humacao Areas traveler review

La Paloma offers great reasonable rates with a family atmosphere. Visited: July 2008
Posted by tonerpr
I was looking around several weeks for a place to accommodate six people for a couple of days at a price that wouldn't break my pockets. Boy, did I find it here at La Paloma Guest House! At $65.00 a night, it was a steal.

Nilda (the owner) was great to us - even before we got there. She gave me great directions, and even had us lunch prepared when we arrived at no extra cost.

We had a great time. The views were breathtaking. There rooms were always clean, and Nilda was always asking if we needed any clean towels and stuff.

The pool was wonderful, and the water was even warm at night. Although the rooms had AC, with the night breeze you hardly need them.

We are definitely returning here.

Guesthouse 57, San Juan traveler review

I´ve stayed here twice.

The first time, I stayed at a beautiful apartment with a private outdoor. The apartment had a stainless steel kitchen, cool futon, a comfy queen sized bed, and a big bathroom.

I brought my Mac mini, and I hooked it up to the hdmi enabled flat screen tv. I looked around the are, and these apartments are hot! It's definitely a must if you are visiting the San Juan/Condado/Ocean Park area.

When we spoke with the owners, they were extremely courteous and welcoming.

When we arrived, we realized what an amazing deal we actually got because of the level of quality that we received would have cost four times more in any hotel.

It was definitely a two thumbs up!

Fajardo Inn, Fajardo & Humacao Areas traveler review

They offered beautiful surroundings, but horrible service. Visited: July 2008
Posted by tomvazquez
My family and I had stayed at the Fajardo Inn years ago, and decided to come back in Summer 2008. The original cozy hotel we knew, had been replaced by a mega resort. It looked great, with an added pool and multiple additional buildings and services. The rooms were very clean and well tended to.

My complaints though are about the service provided in the restaurants. The very limited amount of waiters and waitresses struggled to keep up with the demand and high volume of customers. Orders were forgotten - and sometimes never brought out. This though, was not the fault of the waiters, they were too tied up handling all orders. This is the fault of management, most likely trying to cut costs to save a couple of bucks.

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn, Northeast Coast traveler review

It is a good hotel option, although it does have some drawbacks. Visited: July 2008
Posted by lisaud
If you want to stay in Luquillo, but don't like (or simply can't afford) big resorts like El Conquistador, Luquillo Sunrise is a lovely option. It was not opulent, but pleasant and very clean with a beautiful ocean view and an amazingly helpful and responsive staff. Breakfast was pretty good, too.

Luquillo itself wasn't a very pleasant town. It was rundown, kind of bordering on a slum-like feel. That was a definite drawback for my husband and me because there was nothing else to suggest that it should be a resort area. Its presence in the area felt almost incongruous.

The beach was pretty, but very narrow. The area immediately across the street was not safe for swimming, either. The area that was safe for swimming was kind of crowded, and it was a relatively long walk if you wanted to be able to run back into your room to, say, use the bathroom.

If you chose to drive, parking was hard to come by. I was told that July is the worst month for crowding at the beaches so you should factor that in.

The general area was, however, a good one for easy access to all the east coast has to offer (which is a lot). And, when you're sitting on your balcony, sipping rum and coke, and looking out at the Atlantic, you can forget about what's next door or down the street.

ShipWreck, Puerto Rico traveler review

It was great, and with huge portions!
Posted by corsican
On a recent visit to Rincon, we found this restaurant. It was recommended by someone at the guest house we stayed at.

We loved the food here, and the "island" atmosphere. The locals we met at the bar turned out to work for the dive shop attached to the Shipwreck. We ended up taking a snorkeling trip with them the next day to Desecheo Island.

We had the jalapeno poppers, calamari, fish tacos, hamburger, and great key lime pie. We pigged out, and loved every minute of it!

Tres Sirenas Oceanfront Inn, Puerto Rico traveler review

This is the best oceanfront in Rincon. Visited: July 2008
Posted by corsican
We have just returned from a wonderful trip visiting family in Puerto Rico. We stole some time for ourselves at Tres Sirenas. I had done extensive research, and could not have been more pleased with our selection.

First of all, Tres Sirenas was direct oceanfront, which for us was important. This was a great swimming beach, and was in the heart of everything. We walked to nearby hotels and restaurants for drinks; had fun at Villa Confressi's bar dancing Salsa; and even walked to town for dinner at Pancho Villa's.

Second, the accommodations were beautiful. We chose the pool studio because we wanted more space. The views were spectacular, and the furnishings were right out of Coastal Living. The best was breakfast served by the owners every morning right in front of our room oceanfront!

We highly recommend Tres Sirenas for those who want a special stay, immaculate clean rooms, delicious breakfasts, and direct beachfront.
