Aruba travelers should be aware of one important fact: If you are planning a visit to a nearby island or to Venezuela, don't plan to visit by boat. Unlike many Caribbean islands, Aruba does not have any ferry boat connections to Bonaire or Curacao, despite the trio's political association. Nearby Venezuela is also unreachable by island ferry. Travelers will be able to reach these three locations by smaller commuter airlines and island-hopper jets only. Some travelers may be able to charter a boat to reach these countries, but these popular day-trip destinations are mainly reachable through air travel. The one ferry service available travels from Aruba to a tourist attraction, De Palm Island. There’s also a pharmacy with name-brand items like Goody hair supplies, Bausch & Lomb eye-care products and over-the-counter pharmacy items. In addition to a wide variety of American and European foods foods, there’s a Dutch bakery, a deli, a butcher shop, and a well-stocked liquor store. If you plan ahead, the store can have a package of essential foodstuffs delivered to your hotel room in time for your arrival. The market is open Monday to Saturday 8am-8pm and Sunday 9am-1pm.
